NVC SHPE

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers student chapter of Napa Valley College was established in 2004 as a part of a commitment to the recruitment and retainment of Hispanic engineering and science students. NVC SHPE is an organization in which student leaders volunteer their time and efforts to help students and community.

Our Mission & Vission

Our Mission

NVC SHPE will inspire the next generation of STEM students through a welcoming and diverse community. Our community will guide students to achieve academic success and assist them in their professional endeavors.

Our Vission

SHPE's vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.

What We Do

Community Outreach

Giving back to the community is important to NVC SHPE. We take pride in our contributions and are always looking for new ways to engage with our neighbors.

Some on going projects include:

Napa High School Engineering Club:

Our members helped establish the school's Engineering club, and regularly visit to take part in and help guide the meetings along. We are currently in works of turning the club into an official SHPE Jr Chapter.

Vallejo High School Engineering Academy:

Some board members currently sit on the VHS Engineering Academy Advisory Board where they help plan engineering related curriculum

Industry Networking

As a chapter we seek to provide our members the opportunity to converse with professional engineers and students looking to enter the STEM fields. Through our events our members are able to seek advice from others relating to their major or field, and increase their network with professionals.

Chapter History

Established in 2004, the NVCSHPE or Napa Valley College Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers began with a small number of students. Since then we have improved, grown, and strengthened our influence in providing not only those of Hispanic origin, but all students that seek to pursue a degree in engineering as well as those in the STEM field a place where they could flourish as leaders.
